District-wide leader and administrator of the Division of Workforce Development, Career Education degrees and college credit/technical certificates. Serves as the College’s representative for these programs with state agencies, councils and committees. Provides administrative leadership and guidance and monitors the effectiveness of instruction and learning within the areas of Workforce Development, Career and Technical Education.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are not exhaustive but illustrate the general duties required of the position. Management may require personnel to perform duties other than those contained in this document.
- Serves as the College's principal administrator for workforce/career/technical programs, collaborating closely with the President, Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer/College Provost, other Academic Deans and Associate Deans.
- Provides leadership for the management of the Division Workforce Development/Career/Technical programs, to include initiative in maintaining and improving the quality of instruction and attainment of student learning outcomes.
- Prepares, updates, and recommends to the Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer/College Provost and/or the Council on Academic Affairs initiatives, changes and improvements regarding academic programs, textbooks and curriculum for the Division of Workforce Development/Career/Technical programs.
- Prepares, updates and recommends to the Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer/College Provost, Provost, and/or the Council on Academic Affairs new and revised student learning outcomes, course objectives and competencies for the Division of Workforce Development/Career/Technical programs.
- Maintains the Master Course Outlines and copies of standard course syllabi templates for all courses assigned to the Division of Workforce Development/Career/Technical programs.
- Establishes and monitors appropriate instructional standards for the Division of Workforce Development/Career/Technical programs.
- Plans for and conducts degree and certificate program reviews.
- Assists in preparing applications for grants, implements and oversees grant activities and monitors budget expenditures in conformance with the terms of approved grant funded initiatives in the Division of Workforce Development/Career/Technical programs.
- Reviews and updates job descriptions for positions assigned to the Division of Workforce Development/Career/Technical programs.
- Recruits and recommends the employment of full-time faculty and staff assigned to the Division of Workforce Development/Career/Technical programs and of adjunct faculty on the West Campus.
- Reviews and approves professional/travel leave, sick leave, and vacation leave requests for designated individuals assigned to the Division of Workforce Development/ Career/Technical programs.
- Works in concert with the Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer/ College Provost, Provosts and in preparing recommendations regarding the hiring, transfer, promotion, suspension and dismissal of full-time faculty and staff assigned to the Division of Workforce Development/Career/Technical programs.
- Collaborates with the Provosts, and Associate Deans, and makes approved to teach recommendations for qualified full-time and adjunct faculty to the Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer/College Provost.
- Conducts full-time faculty and adjunct faculty informational and in-service training meetings each major academic term.
- Keeps full-time faculty and adjunct faculty informed regarding pertinent data and/or reports.
- Reviews student evaluations of full-time faculty and adjunct faculty assigned to the Division of Workforce Development/Career/Technical/programs and provides appropriate recommendations regarding the feedback received from students.
- Prepares, in collaboration with the Provosts, annual performance evaluations for all Division of Workforce Development/Career/Technical programs staff and full-time faculty and is the secondary supervisor for adjunct faculty assigned to the Division of Workforce Development/Career/Technical programs.
- Conducts interviews and recommends the appointment of Program Directors to the Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer/College Provost.
- Collaborates with Provosts, Associate Deans, Program Directors and full-time faculty to develop course schedules, new programs, and new/revised courses and Faculty Development of the Division of Workforce Development/Career/Technical programs.
- Keeps abreast of relevant federal and state laws, policies, and regulations that pertain to the Division of Workforce Development/Career/Technical programs.
- Prepares, implements and evaluates unit objectives for the College’s Strategic Plan using existing strategic planning software and provides updates and use of results on an ongoing basis.
- Initiates and reviews budget requests prepared for the Division of Workforce Development/Career/Technical programs, and serves as the budget supervisor for all accounts assigned to the Division of Workforce Development/Career/Technical programs.
- Coordinates the production of brochures, career books and other publications and promotional materials with the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications.
- Assists College officials in resolving faculty and student problems related to the Division of Workforce Development/Career/Technical programs.
- Assists the Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer/College Provost in updating District Board of Trustees Rules and Internal Management Memoranda.
- Assists with implementing the College’s Equity Plan.
- Remains updated and initiates appropriate measures to ensure the College’s accreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
- Responds to various surveys and prepares reports for state and federal governmental agencies.
- Serves as a member of the President’s Administrative Leadership Team, Council on Academic Affairs and other councils and committees as assigned by the President.
- Collaborates with the Dean of Nursing and Health Programs on matters relating to workforce development programs/Career/Technical programs.
- Serves as the College’s point-of-contact for: Jobs and Education Workforce Board, Workforce Development/Career/Technical programs, Occupational Education Standing Committee, Advisory Committees, Manufacturers’ Associations, Florida High Tech Council.
- Serves as Tech Prep Director. Promotes Tech Prep concepts within the consortium. Oversees the articulation agreements with the Pasco and Hernando school districts.
- Coordinates academic matters for the Division of Workforce Development/Career/Technical programs and for programs and courses offered by the Office of Corporate Training and Continuing Education.
- Recommends the establishment of appropriate technical advisory committees and their membership. Initiates and supervises suitable action on input and advice by the technical advisory committees. Assures College representation and leadership on the technical advisory committees.
- Arranges the annual technical advisory committee meeting.
- Promotes the coordination of career/technical programs and curriculum with the Pasco and Hernando school districts.
- Serves as a member of the President's Administrative Leadership Team, and other assigned committees.
- Works closely with Career Center staff, the recruiter/promoter, and grant funded personnel assigned to the Division of Workforce Development/Career/Technical programs.
- Works in concert with the College’s Provosts in the coordination of campus computer laboratory activities and conducts regular informational and in-service training meetings with campus computer laboratory technicians.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements

Education Requirements/Qualifications
- A Master's Degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in a related field in the Division of Workforce Development/ Career/Technical programs, or at least three years of experience working directly with overseeing and administering Workforce Development/ Career/Technical programs, including overseeing and managing Federal Perkins funds and industry certifications at the secondary or post-secondary level required. All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution.
- Three years postsecondary teaching experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must possess working knowledge and skills related to personal computer competencies and mainframe computers for academic and student programs.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Serves as primary supervisor to staff, Program Directors, faculty and adjunct faculty (West Campus) assigned to Workforce Development.

Light Work

Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral Degree and experience with developing career pathways for College or dual enrolled students preferred
